Reading a public access plan (virtual event) Online
In August 2022, the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) issued new guidance for federal agencies, requiring them to develop policies to make research stemming from their grants publicly available. Those plans, published in December 2024, go into effect in 2025.
In this workshop, we will review the significant changes between the 2013 OSTP memo and this 2022 memo, and we will look through one agency's plan, figuring out what compliance with the plan means for researchers and for librarians. For this workshop, we will read the Department of Energy's public access plan, which contains several characteristics that will appear in many agencies' plans: https://www.energy.gov/doe-public-access-plan
