This workshop is for people who have little to no experience with programming computers but have some familiarity an Office application. We’re not going to make you a computer programming expert. This is an introductory level workshop. We think you will be able to use VBA to accomplish simple, useful actions after attending this workshop. Some attendees will quickly advance to a higher skill level on their own.

If you use any of these Office applications, you are a good candidate for learning VBA. You can use your VBA skills with all of these programs:
Microsoft Word
Microsoft Excel
Microsoft PowerPoint
Microsoft Outlook (Windows only)
Visio
Microsoft Project
Microsoft Access
OpenOffice Calc
LibreOffice Calc

After attending this workshop, you will know
Enough about code to get started
How to open and use the Visual Basic Editor
How to control application and document properties
How to write and run your first “Hello World” program
How to make and run macros
How to record macros
How to make your own new worksheet functions in Excel and Calc

There will be a 30 minute lunch break at 11:30am

Workshops are offered at no charge to UB faculty, staff, students and alumni.

Please remember to bring your own device to the workshop. The classroom does not have workstations.

Co-sponsored by The Graduate School.
