Intro to Data Visualization

Intro to Data Visualization In-Person

Part of the UB Libraries' celebration of Love Data Week (Feb. 10-14, 2020), this workshop will dive into the basics of data visualization - using charts and other visual representations to explore and understand complex patterns in data. We will start off with how to find the right type of chart for different types of data - do you want to show a comparison? a hierarchy? a distribution? The Data Visualisation Catalogue allows you to search by function as well as chart type. Then we will test out some sample data in RawGraphs.io, an open-source, easy-to-use interface for creating data visualizations online.

No prior experience with data viz is necessary! For more information about Love Data Week, follow the hashtag #lovedata20 on Twitter.
