Encryption and Privacy: Tools to Protect Your Digital Life Online
Workshop covering some ways that you can protect your personal communications, smartphones, and computers from the myriad existing threats. It will cover the basics of encryption, easy-to-use secure messaging applications like Signal, and more advanced applications like the encrypted web network Tor, built-in operating-system level disk encryption with BitLocker (Windows) and FileVault (Mac), and secure email with PGP. No previous experience with these tools is expected and these are tools to be used on personal devices, not UB computing equipment.
