Exploring Maps Online: Discovering and Creating Maps Using Library Resources

Exploring Maps Online: Discovering and Creating Maps Using Library Resources Online

This workshop will review sources for finding maps online via public and subscription resources available through UB Libraries. In this introductory session, users will learn how to access data and maps through the US Census and USGS (US Geological Survey) portals, locate and download historical maps from  other library collections and find additional resources for their needs. Detailed steps for accessing data and creating maps using Fire Insurance Maps online (FIMo) and Social Explorer will be discussed.

Students, faculty and staff from all disciplines are welcome to attend this multidisciplinary workshop. Attendees should be prepared with your UBIT name and password as they are needed to access FIMo and Social Explorer.

This workshop will be held virtually via Zoom.
